ACTUARIAL SPECIALIST

REQUIREMENTS
  • Nearly or Qualified Actuary.
  • At least 4 years relevant actuarial experience within a corporate environment.
  • Sound knowledge of statistical methods and the ability to apply it to solve business problems.
  • Ability to utilise appropriate tools/ methods and resources to gather information and conduct research.
  • Dynamic individual with a passion for innovation and the ability to take initiative and work under own direction.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to gain agreement from others by persuading, convincing and negotiating concepts and ideas.
  • Demonstrate sound actuarial and statistical skills coupled with business acumen.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with the required level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in statistical software packages like SAS, R, Strata and/or SPSS: SAS would be an advantage.
  • A good understanding of the healthcare industry and related trends would be an advantage.

KEY OUTPUTS
  • To utilise actuarial tariff modelling, evaluate current and propose future tariff models that serves as a tool to base tariff model decisions on and/or tariff schedules
  • To pro-actively identify, research and evaluate relevant healthcare trends that informs business decision with regards to tariff models and model changes.
  • To investigate, identify, analyse and quantify financial risks that enable the business to make informed financial, tariffs and strategy decisions.
  • To communicate complex data and statistical insights to business that is understandable to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • To actively establish sound relationships with key stakeholders within the business that facilitates collaboration and supporting commitment to the tariff modelling process
