The incumbent will utilize implementation tools and methodologies under the direction of the Development Manager and work closely with vendors, clients, technology partners and team members.
The incumbent will be required to support the department in the progress of the programming and software development requirements. The key responsibilities will be to code and maintain the Data Warehouse programming requirements of the Hospital Information System, Billing System and Third party interfaces. To work with the client application specialists, trainers and support staff in advancing the Software Development Department’s deliverables.
Additional responsibilities will include:
o Translate operational requirements into system terms
o Contribute to the data warehouse documentation process and procedures
o Perform system implementations, release upgrades and system optimizations
o Provide support for testing, training and implementation of BI activities and releases
o Liaise with client application specialists regarding specific code changes, and enhancements to the various systems
o Must be able to learn Cache database skills and the HIS technology environment in a short space of time
o Must be able to travel locally and nationally within South Africa
o Knowledge BI Modeling tools: Qlikview, Bi Cubes,Mdx Queries
o Dot Net, Current and previous versions - Expert knowledge of Web Forms
o Solid Database skills - SQL Server, Oracle, Cache or similar
o Expert knowledge of data warehousing and integration
o Cache Database/Ensemble, Deepsee skills would be an advantage
o Previous experience in the Health ICT industry will be an advantage
Qualification and Experience:
o A completed 3 year degree with majors in Information Systems or Computer Science
o At least 5 years’ solid programming experience in a structured programming environment
o At least 2 years’ experience in systems analysis and data modelling
o Solid understanding and proven track record working within the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
o Must have experience in Agile programming methodologies
The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills and analytical skills.
o Adaptability - adjusting effectively to work within new work structures and business environment
o Must be able to accept accountability and responsibility for deliverables
o Must be able to cope with a steep learning curve in technologies for the health environment
o The candidate needs to be able to quickly grasp complex material and learn new development skills and business knowledge in a short timeframe
