OBJECTIVE:

The Business Analyst Manager is responsible for leading a team that delivers analytics and reporting solutions across the Pharma and Nutritional divisions, so as to enable strategic insight creation and the ability to drive business decisions.

Source appropriate data audits that meet the commercial function requirements and translate these into meaningful insight driven information.

Business partner with the commercial functions, in a pro-active manner, so as to recommend courses of action to assist the business in understanding product potential, brand performance, customer behaviors, and NPD strategic direction.

Closely align with the Business Intelligence (BI) team in reviewing current and future based BI architecture and provide strategic solutions in an integrated manner that ensures alignment to commercial function requirements.

 

MAIN DUTIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Partner with all business areas in order to understand and deliver strategic performance insights and key analytics solutions, either through monthly or quarterly meetings
  • Analyse and understand business needs within each of the business areas based on strategic brands and portfolios. Together with relevant stakeholders, identify insight requirements for effective decision making
  • Liaise with Divisional Heads, to understand insight and analytical requirements
  • Foster a cross functional teamwork approach and a sense of partnership with all Commercial and Support Functions, aimed at optimizing opportunities and exploiting synergies
  • Conduct internal stakeholder workshops and forums to enhance learning and understanding data, audits and analytical processes
  • Support the Marketing function through data inputs and analytics during forecasting, budget and brand plan cycles
  • Support business KPI’s by identifying data needs and delivering value cases and in turning data to business value
  • Develop and implement tracking tools that support in market performance analysis
  • Initiate and set up KPI metrics for market performance management reporting
  • Business lead on the acquisition, management and deployment of information for sales and marketing
  • Accountable for the timeous build and delivery of sales targets to the sales organization
  • Ensure the timeous and accurate calculation of incentives in alignment to the incentive schemes
  • Build automated, scalable and thoroughly documented reporting solutions
  • Ensure all work delivered is accurate, of high quality, and delivered on time
  • Support cross-functional teams such as SFE, sales, marketing and finance, on day-to-day execution of projects
  • Coordinate cross-divisional operations analyses by providing common methodology, definitions and standard analytic approaches
  • Work closely with BI to provide appropriate data and tools for the analytics team to be successful
  • Nurture and promote the adherence to BI governance standards within the organisation
  • Duties include communication, outreach and training to various stakeholders throughout the business, as well as management of outside services (e.g., vendors)
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding business analytics in terms of methodology and technology
  • Explore and propose new tools, methodology and practices enabling standardisation of procedures and their related reports for the various sales divisions
  • Facilitate deep dive analytical reviews of key competitors and subsequent therapeutic area analysis and presentation
  • Management of supporting data frameworks that align to internal IT and BI systems
  • Liaison and relationship management of 3rd party data vendors and subsequent SLA / contracts
  • Lead the annual segmentation process through model development and deployment
  • Build and develop a high performing team through active coaching and mentoring, with clearly defined development plans

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or associated qualification
  • 5+ years in data analytics
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals / FMCG
  • Expert in Qlikview or other interactive BI dashboard tools
  • Proven track record
  • Experience of having operated in a complex matrix organisation
  • Experience leading or managing teams.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Have a complete and thorough understanding of the scope of the pharmaceutical market
  • Market data and data methodologies
  • Systems and data analytics / BI Tools i.e. Qlikview
  • Analytics and proficiencies in Microsoft
  • Strategy development
