The DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of corporate applications.
Grants and removes database level user access and maintenance of the servers, establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security.
Manager Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
Handles database integration between core and supplementary system environments maintaining data integrity
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
Provide 24x7 support fort critical production systems and staging/development systems that are targeted for critical go live
Installing and testing new versions of the DBMS
Working closely with IT Operations, IT systems and IT Development Managers to ensure operational, application and development objectives are met.
Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recover Planning
Conducts reviews of the new and existing databases for DRP and BCP purposes ensuring inclusion of critical systems into the plan
Participates in the planning and testing processes including Live recovery events to ensure adequacy and availability of critical systems.
Audit Reviews and Queries
Assesses requirements from internal and external Auditors.
Meets with auditors to address any query emanating from the review documents provided and auditors submit finalised management report.
Liaises regularly with service providers, software suppliers and manufacturers in respect of software utilised in respect of installation, testing, and implementation of systems fixes and patches
Assists with related queries and investigations related to database issues including functionality issues
Provides regular feedback and status updates (weekly, monthly and adhoc) on completion of Database Administration tasks and responsibilities.
- A Degree or Diploma in Information systems incorporating Database Administration/Engineering
- MCDBA qualifications will be an advantage
- Information Security Administration qualifications and/or experience would be highly advantageous
- A minimum of 3-5 tears related Database Administration experience within a banking or similar financial institution environment.
