Job Description

Responsibilities:   

  • Establish, align and manage  target and budget goals whilst ensuring effective control of costs for a range of functional areas to increase cost efficiency
  • Establish a sound risk management culture through awareness of campaigns to influence behaviour and drive the importance of compliance
  • Maintenance of expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and provision of proactive advice and solutions to relevant stakeholders
  • Research and provide legal opinion on a variety of issues and new business projects within the business to proactively identify, assess and manage legal risk
  • Compile a legal risk and compliance strategy for the business in order to proactively identify risks 
  • Zero incidents of non Compliance in high risk legislation
  • Provision of recommendations for Legal and Risk Framework for the Group based on findings from analyses of risk in the segments
  • Compile and monitor implementation of legal policies and procedures, aligned to policies and procedures, in order to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Deal with litigation matters involving the business to manage legal risk and do liaison with Ombudsman
  • Ensure all SLA's are in place and managed accordingly and conduct spot audits to ensure contract and SLA terms are being adhered to, both by the suppliers and the business units
  • Benchmark current practices against the legal risk management framework and adjust practices as and when necessary
  • Identify and communicate current and anticipated legal issues/risks
  • Audit Risk and Compliance Reporting quarterly
  • Risk Reporting Monthly 
  • Manage own development to increase own competencies

        
       
Qualifications and experience          

  • LLB or equivalent qualification
  • 3 to 5 years related experience
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of FICA and related AML legislation
