2. PURPOSE STATEMENT
To analyse, architect and design IT Data Centre Infrastructure and systems integration in regard to IT security aspects and security solutions in support of the organization.
This job holder has no direct and / or indirect reports
5. ENVIRONMENT 5.1 External environment
The job holder:
o Operates within industry trends with regards to IT Security, server hardware, storage, operating system and virtualization infrastructure management.
o Liaises with external service providers (e.g. Microsoft, DELL, EMC, VMware, etc.)
5.2 Internal environment
The job holder operates within the following internal policies:
o Information Management Policy
o Information Security Policy
o IT Governance Policy
The job holder has to adhere to business continuity principles as required by business.
The job holder must adhere to internal Systems Design Quality Standards.
The job holder will liaise with various internal departments
From time to time, this position will be required to liaise directly with relevant business departments.
6. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (Job Objectives)
6.1 Architect IT Security solutions and supporting infrastructure (physical / virtual infrastructure, operating systems and supporting software) in alignment with organizational goals and constraints.
6.2 Design validation of IT Security solutions and supporting infrastructure.
6.3 Architectural support of IT Security solutions and supporting infrastructure.
7. TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES
7.1 Architect IT Security solutions and supporting infrastructure (physical / virtual infrastructure, operating systems and supporting software) in alignment with organizational goals and constraints
Occasional design and implementation where strategic and appropriate.
Define strategic goals and tactical plans for IT Security solutions and systems.
Perform Infrastructure Architect peer reviews.
Consult on IT Security solutions architecture and Infrastructure Architecture.
Conduct research and development (R&D).
Document and own security architecture and systems.
Document and own security architecture engagement prerequisites (initial and complete).
Compile security architecture policies.
Compile security architecture standards and best practices.
Own security infrastructure SDLC.
7.2 Design validation of IT Security solutions and supporting infrastructure
Mentor team members.
Compile and maintain design review and sign off check list.
Review and sign off designs.
7.3 Architectural support of IT Security solutions and supporting infrastructure
Provide architectural support.
Participate in root-cause analysis reviews when applicable.
8. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 8.1 Qualifications
o Grade 12
o A relevant 3 year degree / diploma in IT
o ITIL Foundation certification
o Microsoft Operating System Certification with Active Directory Design
o Industry security certification
o Virtualization certification
8.2 Job Knowledge
o Expert knowledge of:
Windows Server architecture
Architecting and designing Active Directory and Related technologies.
Secure network architecture, identity and access management principles, and application security principles.
Security Principles, IT Security procedures and Best Practices
o A sound understanding of:
PKI, RADIUS, LDAP
Data Centre infrastructure architecture.
Data Centre infrastructure performance and capacity analysis.
IT systems development processes (SDLC lifecycle).
Business compliance requirements
Business continuity planning
X86 Hardware architecture
o Expert knowledge of:
SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and/or ECA (Event Correlation and Analysis) Systems
o A sound understanding of:
Project Management principles and processes
Application design principles
Ethical hacking and penetration testing
Anti-Virus technologies, Linux, IPS
Messaging and Collaboration technologies and architecture
Identity Management Solutions

o 5+ years' experience in IT Security related Architecture or Design
o 4+ years' experience designing, deploying and supporting Active Directory deployments and its supporting technologies in a medium to large sized organization
o 4+ years’ experience in Infrastructure Architecture or Design
o Proven experience integrating security solutions and practices in a Windows environment
o 7+ years’ experience in Microsoft Server Operating Systems
o Proven experience in designing and deploying Windows Server security and configuration using Group Policy
o 7+ years’ experience in ITIL concepts and policies
o 5+ years’ experience in Microsoft Security technologies
o 4+ years’ experience in expert performance monitoring/analysis and capacity planning
9. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As a pre-requisite to this position the incumbent will be required to:
Have own vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

Be willing to work after hours / over weekends (outside of normal office hours).
