We are a young startup bringing a fresh approach to the car trading industry. We have a solid, experienced business team and are looking for someone with strong technical skills to complement the team.
We have been outsourcing our development up to now and are looking to insource progressively. We want a flexible and business-oriented individual who will oversee our technology and perform the bulk of the ongoing development at this time. (Specialist elements like machine learning can remain outsourced.) The business is in an early stage and there will be significant further development over the next few years, so we foresee the technical team growing with time.
You will work side-by-side with the senior team and be expected to contribute to the growth and development of the business across the board. You will not be pigeonholed into a dark room -- you'll get exposed to the broader business, including product, finance, marketing and operations, and will be in a position to have a real impact from day one.
The ideal candidate would have full-stack capabilities, but our front-end is fairly simple and therefore front-end experience is not critical. We need someone who can work independently, so a green/junior developer won’t work, but we are not specific on the level of experience above that – we would rather remain flexible to keep the range of options open – e.g. anything from 2-6 years’ relevant experience.
We currently work primarily in a Microsoft environment. Our operational system is in .NET, mySQL database, website in ASP.NET. There is a web service serving a machine learning model via a REST API. This service is separately developed and maintained, but interfaces with the rest of the system. We integrate with a third-party CRM (Zoho). In the short term, there is back-end development that needs to be done, as well as website tweaking. We would also like to develop a mobile app in due course. The tech stack is in its infancy and it would be your job to define the technology road map and decide on and implement the best solutions to achieve our long-term objectives. You need to be comfortable in both Windows and Linux environments and have solid development experience. AWS/ Azure experience is a plus.
You will oversee our infrastructure so it's a bonus if you have some infrastructure and sysadmin experience, but not a must. We're comfortable for this to be an outsourced function.
We're interested in someone with a reasonably broad range of skills who can contribute from day one. While we’re a tight team, we don’t have the technical skills to handhold, so you would need the experience and ability work independently. This is a chance to design and implement technology infrastructure from the ground up. We're looking for a candidate who can grow into a CTO position (or step into it, if sufficiently senior).
The role is based at our head office in Montague Gardens.
