Description

ROLE PURPOSE:

The main function of the position is to ensure that users  receive adequate level 1 workstation support and to ensure that routine IT operations checks are performed as required in order to optimally support the relevant business requirements.

SPECIFIC OUTCOMES / CORE TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY:

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

  • Monitor/optimize onsite workstation hardware, availability and performance
  • Proactive problem identification, resolution or escalation
  • Support end user client applications, identify problems and escalate where necessary
  • First line technical support & performance tuning for Windows based systems
  • Interact with system custodians, administrators, engineers and managers
  • Monitor/optimize the networking equipment
  • Proactive problem identification, resolution or escalation
  • First line technical support for networking devices onsite
  • Interact with system custodians, administrators, engineers and managers
  • Compilation of relevant and accurate reporting for IT (pulled from helpdesk, other sources or manually)
  • Assist in the logging, management and resolution of support calls on the helpdesk system.
  • Provide first line telephonic, remote or onsite support function to all staff at the Durban office
  • Support other IT site administrators, engineers and managers
  • Be involved in small and large scale projects and initiatives
  • Operating within the IT department framework, systems and policies.
  • Provide afterhours support if and when required
  • Ensure an open and professional consultative dialogue with all employees & line managers 
  • Facilitate all contact and exchanges between management and employees, & where necessary, acting in a conciliatory or mediatory role ; conduct meetings and report back to management.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • IT National Diploma
  • Must have completed National Diploma in 2015/2016
  • Desktop support experience
  • Networking experience
