Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Administration and maintenance of the network and internal systems (hardware, software, servers, tools etc.) thereby ensuring that they are stable, resilient and secure
  • Provide input into the IT Infrastructure Strategy for the Sub-Saharan Africa region
  • Keep abreast of IT / infrastructure industry trends and internal Group standards, and ensure these are adhered to
  • Create and implement IT Security policies and procedures that are aligned to Group standards. Ensure that these security procedures and policies are enforced through training and regular communication
  • Ensure business service availability and capacity is maintained and in the event of service outages, demonstrate effective situational management, problem resolution, communication and Root Cause Analysis
  • Ensure Change Management Process is adhered to for all IT Infrastructure changes
  • Ensure that all backups and restores to systems are functioning and carried out in support of DR and Business Continuity Plans. Maintain Disaster Recovery Plans for the IT Infrastructure
  • Project management through all phases of the IT project lifecycle. Identify business, operational and technical tasks, scope, risks, time constraints and task interdependencies
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication with other team members including managers, peers and business stakeholders
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and working relationships with others in the IT teams, our colleagues and service providers
  • Demonstrate a self-directed approach to learning new technologies and skills pertaining to the role and career; take ownership of professional development

Qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years proven experience in similar role  
  • Tertiary Qualification an advantage
  • Relevant Technology Certifications
  • Microsoft and\or other Server technologies, incl. Active Directory
  • Cisco or other Networking (Routing and Switching) and Telephony
  • Mobility (Airwatch or other EMM\MDM Platforms)
  • 3rd Party Service Provider\Vendor Management
  • VMware and related Virtual or Cloud server technologies and platforms
  • Server Storage and related Hardware
  • Google Cloud and G Suite (Google Apps) Admin an advantage
  • Strong working knowledge of major networking components, network operating systems, network protocols and services (DHCP, DNS, etc.)
  • SD WAN\SD Networks knowledge and Experience an advantage  
  • Other Networking Services (Wifi Controllers, VPN)
  • ITIL (IT Service Management)
  • Strong IT Governance and Security Knowledge and Experience (incl. Firewalls and Web Security)
