Job Description

The purpose of the role:

You will create solutions solutions that enable a new way of distributing our products and services across South Africa. Locally within South Africa, you will lead a team of architects to provide architectural principles, end-to-end solution design (at both the conceptual and detailed level), as well as architecture governance.

You will:
Perform the following tasks in manner consistent with values of Honesty, Integrity and Trust. People Capabilities will be at the forefront of what you do including Customer Focus, Team & Culture, Continuous Improvement, Effective Communication, Judgement and Drive Results.
 Lead the architecture community in South Africa
 Develop and maintain current state architecture, define target architecture and develop plans for transition and roadmap from current to desired architecture;
 Articulate and evaluate key options independent of technology for a given solution;
 Provide architectural advice/approvals for new business cases and project / enhancement requests by examining against current and target architecture;
 Provide an architectural governance function for the design and build deliverables to ensure traceability of the build solution to the architectural principles and business solutions.
 Risk Management: Develop and apply knowledge of the Group’s risk appetite, policies and processes, including key risks and controls
 People Leadership:
o Inspiring others and setting the tone for an inclusive and high performance team
o Motivating and challenging your team to meet and exceed performance standards through continuous improvement and driving results
o Role modelling company vision and values
o Coaching, mentoring, managing performance, training and development of people
 Budget management

What will make you successful?
 Significant experience in a role leading an architecture function; strong people leadership capabilities
 Experience in Financial Services – this may be in banking or in another industry that is delivering financial services
 Ability to work in an agile way within a fast-paced and dynamic work environment to tight deadlines
 Ability to innovate to push the boundaries of what technology can provide and also to keep things simple and standard
 IT qualification is desirable (not essential)
