Job Description

We will do this through a combination of this ultra-low cost innovative digital banking proposition together with an emphasis on financial literacy where we will deliver the knowledge and understanding that is a prerequisite to trust and participation.

The purpose of the role:

You will lead the infrastructure, network, database and desktop user services for the entire bank and ensure effective use of infrastructure resources through robust strategies, plans and estimates. You will establish & improve infrastructure across multiple environments to drive increased quality and operational efficiency, lower costs & reduced time-to-market. This newly established role will be accountable for services for all parts of the new bank, including for corporate services.

You will:

 Design, management and ongoing support of complex enterprise infrastructure, including server, network, desktop, storage facilities and multiple data centres within a matrixed environment
 Manage complex back up, business continuity and disaster recovery processes and planning
 Manage specialist team supporting corporate and enterprise infrastructure
 Define the infrastructure roadmap and review and approve all infrastructure strategies and deliverables
 Ensure delivery projects are on time, within budget and with required quality across multiple, simultaneous delivery streams
 Identify and elaborate opportunities to standardise and reuse capabilities, processes and technology
 Minimise infrastructure costs
 Manage Risk: Develop and apply knowledge of the Group’s risk appetite, policies & controls
 Ensure all systems are secure and protected from unauthorised access
 Partner effectively with peers across build and run technology functions and with suppliers
 People Leadership:
o Inspiring others and setting the tone for an inclusive and high performance team
o Motivating and challenging your team to meet and exceed performance standards through continuous improvement and driving results
o Role modelling company vision and values
o Coaching, mentoring, managing performance, training and development of people
 Budget management, including budgeting for hardware and sourcing services from 3rd parties, billing, contract management and capital planning

What will make you successful?
 ITIL Foundation (or equivalent) qualification preferred
 Wide range of technical skills: Windows Server (2008 upwards), LANs, WANs, TCP/IP, Virtualisation, VMware, Routing, Citrix, SANs, SQL Server, Network Design, Firewalls, Active Directory, Group Policy, System Monitoring and Management
 Desirable technical skills: VMWare certification, 2-factor authentication, Open Source, Linux, VoIP Telephony expertise, Office 365, Azure, Prince-2 or other project management experience
 Demonstrated knowledge in network security, ideally supported with formal certifications / qualifications
 Working knowledge of Information Governance and ISO standards
 Previous experience leading a team of infrastructure engineers to deliver a 1st Class 24/7 Service
 Excellent leadership and organisational skills with the ability to concurrently direct, inspire and control multiple resources within a dynamic environment
 Excellent understanding of risk management within the context of financial services business strategies
 Experience and detailed technical understanding of project and system development life cycles
 Ability to work in an agile way within a fast-paced and dynamic work environment to tight deadlines
 Strong communication and influencing ability, ability to deal with ambiguity and change, positive attitude
