Job Description

An excellent career opportunity for a motivated individual exists in the Maintenance Department for a Maintenance Manager, reporting to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

Implementation and ensure full compliance to legal and plant safety rules, regulations and requirements in terms of the OHS Act in the role of GMR2 appointment associated with this position.

Lead the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.

Ensure that the physical assets of the company is in an optimum running condition by implementing proper planned preventative strategies, effectively running the Maintenance Department with a focus on “Like-New” standards.

Responsible for planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out.

Ensure compliance to all ISO 9001:2015 QMS procedures. - Control over internal and external audits

 

Plant Maintenance:

Pro-active planning of mechanical and electrical maintenance.

Overseeing of continuous maintenance on machinery to maintain and improve machine availability and reliability.

Manage annual shut downs and Planned Preventative Maintenance.

Managing deviations from scheduled plan to ensure plant efficiency in terms of quality, cost and on-time-in-full delivery.

Compiling and maintaining of the critical spares list.

Analysing and monitoring information on the relevant management system.

Ensure that mean-time between failures rates are kept as low as possible.

Identifying and remedy inefficiencies by visual inspections and analysing information to limit cost expenditure.

 

Project Management:

Providing input in the planning of projects.

Co-ordinating the implementation of the electrical and mechanical facets of the project.

Ensuring that it adheres to the relevant standard and specification.

Ensure that projects are completed within the allocated time and budget and is done for the expansion and upgrading of the plant as well as for continuous improvement purposes.

 

People Management:

Lead, control and manage the performance of the maintenance team.

Ensure that subordinates have the necessary qualifications and training required by legislation for the relevant positions.

Ensure optimal performance, to adhere to legislation as well as to foster a positive attitude among team members.

Ensure that the subordinates uphold the relevant regulations to limit risks (injuries, penalties and always keeping equipment and working area in pristine condition etc.)

Delegating corrective measures to uphold housekeeping standards.

Maintaining, recording and inputting accurate operational information and data (manual and computerised systems).

 

 

The ideal candidate should (have/be):

Excellent understanding and personal commitment to South African Legislation relating to SHEQ e.g. Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act etc.

Ability  to promote a culture of safety and to adhere to rules & regulations

Grade 12 Certificate (*requirement)

T3 or T5 National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (heavy current) or relevant N6 qualification with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with plant machinery that you will be overseeing in the position as a GMR2 appointment (*requirement) OR

5 years’ post qualification maintenance and manufacturing experience

5 years’ experience in managing a team

Technical knowledge on equipment standards, maintenance approaches and maintenance strategy development

Excellent understanding of project and business development and evaluation of business alternatives

Excellent root cause analysis knowledge

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

High-level problem-solving skills (Analytical & Creative Thinking Skill)

High self-motivation and responsibility

Excellent leadership and People Management skills:  working with own and other teams to achieve maximum efficiency and organisational goals

Deadline driven

Computer Literate

Good knowledge of PC-Top

Excellent literacy and numerical skills

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Excellent conflict resolution skills: deal with conflict and equally so present and promote positive working solutions

Maths and Analytical Skills:  understanding schematics and complex instructions

Reliable with good work ethics and execute with attention to detail
