Job Description

Managing Director Banking Sector

NB: All applicants must be Botswanan nationals

Purpose of Role

To develop, lead, guide and monitor a business, financial and operational strategy to grow the brand within the country in line with group strategy and exercise overall control and supervision of all activities within the in-country operation to meet agreed performance targets.

Technical Pre-requisite
  • Extensive retail, wholesale and general banking knowledge encompassing products, processes, credit, operations and IT
  • Strong financial, business and commercial acumen with  a grasp of market and economic trends
  • Excellent understanding of financial management and the underlying drivers thereof
  • Insight into the governance, risk and compliance landscape within the country
  • Relevant products, channels and segments and the commercial and financial aspects thereof 
  • Understanding of governance, risk and compliance framework and how individual risk elements are managed
  • Relevant models and methodologies
  • Relevant systems, processes, policies, procedures, workflows and reporting requirements
  • How the team is structured across different countries and regions
  • Key stakeholders across the group and their expectations of the function
  • Understanding of the current and target geographies in which the bank intends to operate
Qualifications and experience
  • Relevant Post graduate business qualification, MBA advantageous.
  • 10 - 15 years post qualification experience in a senior executive/managerial position, preferably within the banking industry, with full accountability for operational and strategic outputs
