About our Client
Our Client is a technology company building a suite of SaaS online distribution tools for Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Marketers, Property Owners and Hotel Groups in Africa and abroad.
They currently have a portfolio of software products (online itineraries, marketing tools, distribution portals, content APIs, Facebook widgets and more) that support the industry, and are constantly evolving and advancing this platform. They interact closely with their clients to ensure that their products meet their needs as they evolve. Our client is unique in that they are representing tourism in one of the most challenging and complex environments - Africa.
Their offices are in Claremont (Cape Town), a block away from the shopping and food hub of Cavendish Square. Their development approach emphasize feature ownership and deep involvement by developers in the planning, design and specification process. They include a UX expert on their team to ensure that they pay attention to user needs.
About the candidate
The client is looking to find another broad-minded web developer to join them in building great tools for the tourism industry. Their products are used by dozens of local and international tourism agencies and accommodation, and they keep challenging them to take them further. No matter what your current skill set, they'll want you to grow into being comfortable full stack (hardware to database to front-end), so this could be a great opportunity for you to learn.
You'd be a good fit if you consider yourself able to see solutions when given problems and are excited to help others succeed in a challenging, competitive industry. What they're looking for
You should have solid existing web development skills, and be capable of "owning" a feature and contributing to design and development discussions. Their technology stack is built on SQL Server, RavenDB, IIS 7.5, ASP.NET MVC, C#, jQuery and SCSS, and is continually updated to stay current.
Ideally, you've got 2-6 years experience in web development and you're looking to expand your knowledge and get a chance to work on projects that'll integrate the newest advances in web standards and technology. They want to meet like-minded folk who want to satisfy customers completely and challenge themselves at the same time. You should be comfortable writing modern, standards compliant HTML and accompanying CSS, as well as being familiar with developing web applications in an ASP.NET MVC framework.
Submit a cover letter with a brief description of your last project, clearly indication your involvement and highlighting any interesting technical / environmental components. Help the client understand why you are passionate about this industry.
