About the job:
We have a vacancy for the Oracle Application Database Administrator who will design, implement and support Enterprise Resource Planning database technologies required as part of ICT solutions in support of business outcomes. The incumbent will also assess and implement the relevant governance and regulatory requirements to ensure risks associated with non compliance are mitigated.This position is based in Pretoria.

​Key responsibilities:

 Research, design, implement and maintain Oracle E-Business Suite(EBS) solutions which meets our business strategy and critical outcomes;
 Install, configure, upgrade, administer, monitor and maintain complex multi-database environments and participate in the design and creation of complex databases;
 Monitor and evaluate Oracle EBS database environments to optimise performance;
 Plan, organise, test and execute migration of database from development and test to production environments;
 Install and test new releases, bundles and fixes and ensure that data security protocols are maintained and backup/recovery processes are completed as scheduled;
 Engineer, implement and maintain fit for purpose solutions, to support business strategies and outcomes, within legislative, governance and good practice requirements;
 Establish and maintain database security parameters in order to protect data from potential theft as well as apply critical patch updates to address security vulnerabilities;
 Anticipate, prevent, detect and resolve database problems and thereby continually refine maintenance tasks;
 Optimise database architecture to ensure adequate availability and capacity levels for current and future business service requirements;
 Design, engineer, implement and release database solutions, which complies with project, architecture and Information Technology Infrastructure Library frameworks;
 Innovate relevant technology that could improve the effectiveness of ICT operations and the achievement of our vision and objectives;
 Provide specialised technical systems analysis and support to customers ensuring effective internal and external services are delivered;
 Provide technical leadership to junior staff to ensure growth and development of skills pipeline and succession to the Enterprise Resource Planning environment.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

 A bachelor’s degree in information technology or related qualifications with at least six years’ relevant experience;
 Must be an Oracle certified professional and Oracle Applications Database Administrator certified professional;
 A valid driver’s licence is required for operational purposes;
 Knowledge of high availability solutions (Oracle Data guard) and in-depth technical knowledge of database solutions and architecture;
 Advanced troubleshooting skills on inter-dependencies and databases;
 Ability to design, engineer, implement and maintain ERP database services and solutions related to databases;
 In-depth technical knowledge of integration of database solutions and interfaces with applications, web services, middleware, storage, operating systems, forms, networking, and data;
 An in-depth understanding of data analytics, information security, applications, operating systems (Windows and Linux), middleware and web services;
 Knowledge and understanding of Linux shell scripting, Windows scheduling, database job scheduling and Oracle Enterprise Manager scheduling;
 Experience in working together with multiple teams during the design, engineering, implementation, and operations phases;
 Ability to recover IT Systems during a disaster recovery testing or real scenario and knowledge of backup and restore procedures, methods and policies;
 Thorough knowledge of Oracle EBS , Concurrent Manager, and Workflow;
 Proficiency in performance tuning and familiarity with Oracle tuning tools like SQL analyzer, Statspack, AWR;
 Excellent communication and documentation skills.
