Job Description

The Product Manager will oversee all aspects of a product line to create and integrate new products and product changes in order to deliver competitive advantage by finding innovative solutions for the broader market. This entails building products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers and prospects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Creating formal business cases and working as a facilitator between the various stakeholders to ensure product policy and processes are negotiated, documented, and executed accurately.
  • Translating business requirements into functional specifications.
  • Identify the business and operational requirements based upon the business requirements & objectives of each client.
  • Identify and present innovative and creative product solutions.
  • Assist in the management of all product integration/launches/changes throughout implementation where required.
  • Display a high level of critical thinking in cross-functional process analysis and problem resolution for new and existing products.
  • Coordinate and build strong working relations with various internal business units including; IT, QA, Sales, Marketing, Product Development, & Operations.
  • Develop & conduct specialised training on new products launched and provide support for other projects as needed.
  • A good understanding of the different levels of testing (functional, system, integration, acceptance, regression etc.)
  • Ability to assist in the quality assurance, planning, design and execution of test cases and test procedures (including user acceptance testing).
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification ( B degree, Diploma/ Certificate in Business Analysis and Project Development/ IT)
  • At least 3 to 5 years experience in product development, and implementation
  • Experience in managing projects within the payroll processing industry with specific knowledge of payroll interfaces with all of the major payroll systems in SA
  • Working with flat file and data transfer technologies
  • Extensive experience with Web service base data transfer (SOAP) and service orientated design (SOA).
  • Extensive experience with mobile application design and deployment.

  • Extensive experience and involvement with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in so far as execution and governance practices are concerned.
  • 3 to 5 years exposure to financial services industry is essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of the South African payments industry regarding services and compliance.
  • Must be experienced and have deep insight into the financial administration needs, practices and challenges facing business clients as a platform on which to innovate.
  • Must be able to provide evidence of a proven track record concerning all of the above in order to be considered for the position.
