Job Description

Senior Support Technician
 
Requirements: 
  • 5+ years of advanced experience in Windows-based server environments
  • 5+ years of related IT experience (preferably in a corporate environment)
Advantageous:
  • Experience with a virtual server / desktop environment using VMware
  • Experience in an infrastructure role
  • Exposure to administration of Linux servers environments
The successful candidate would have experience pertaining to as many as possible of the below technologies/methodologies:

Windows
  • Administration of Windows server O/S (2003, 2008 and 2012 Servers).
  • Active Directory infrastructure design (including DNS, WINS, DHCP, Group policies).
  • PowerShell and other scripting for advanced support, maintenance and automation
  • Support WAMP environments (including IIS, MS SQL Server)
  • Exchange 2010 / 2013 environments
Certifications:
 
Whilst a degree or certification is not mandatory, one or more of the following certifications would be highly advantageous: 
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Technology
  • MCSA or MCSE or MCITP (2003 – 2012)
  • MCITP: Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008/2012
  • MCITP: Virtualization Administrator on Windows Server 
  • MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator on Exchange
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Advanced Professional (VCAP)
  • Citrix certified administrator CCA/CCEE
  • Storage related certification
  • ITIL/Prince2 qualifications
  • IT Related Degree or Diploma
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification)
General day-to-day responsibilities
  • Network administration (variety of connections from 3G failover to Fiber)
  • System administration
  • G Suite management
  • Manage desktop support engineers
  • Servers checks
  • Backups
  • Make sure all branch infrastructures are working and maintain uptime
  • Manage relationships with 3rd parties
  • Look after both in-house and off-site servers and maintain hardware and software (Server 2012 R2)
  • Look after Unifi wireless controller, wifi availability and traffic
