Job Description


  • 8 years relevant System Analyst experience
  • Familiar with the Java programming language – not needing to understand how to code but enough to understand how Java applications are developed, deployed (as in Web Applications) and executed.
  • SQL knowledge – ability to write simple-to-intermediate queries
  • Basic database design principles including interpretation of ER diagrams (experience with Oracle is ideal but not a prerequisite)
  • Familiar with integration service development, messaging and queues with sufficient knowledge of integration patterns
  • XML/JSON message interfaces and Web Service SOAP messages and WSDLs
  • Basic knowledge of REST APIs and how these interfaces work (HTTP response codes, headers, best practices, etc.)
  • Testing services using popular SOAP/HTTP clients (SOAPUI/Insomnia/etc.) as well as using tools for editing and viewing XML and JSON
  • Master Data Management
  • Understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems as well as hardware platforms (Virtual Machines)


  • Understand and make use of service integration patterns for designing services and message flows
  • Understand related technologies, protocols and standards – WSDL, XML, XSD, JSON, REST, SOAP, WS-*, MQ, UDDI
  • Understand and establish non-functional requirements for solutions
  • Understand our IT architecture standards and system strategies (Implementation of TOGAF)
  • Understand our legacy system landscape (for establishing the as-is)
  • Familiarity with Self-contained Services and Micro-service architectural styles
  • Create detailed interface documents for defining system or service contracts
  • Engage and provide input to technical leads on overall architectural design for systems
  • Responsible for the integrity of all solutions and provide specifications (Technical design documents, UML diagrams, etc.)
  • Establish governance and practices around solution design (service documentation, discovery, interaction, usages, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the following technology stack (not necessary to understand at a technical implementation level)
  • Angular
  • Docker and Kubernetes (high-level understanding of deployment topologies, runtime capabilities, constraints, etc.)
  • Business/Decision Rule Modelling
  • Master Data Management (reference data models)
  • Java



  • 3 year degree/diploma in Information Technology and certification on relevant IT systems
  • Professional Membership 


Continuous improvement:

  • Implement practical solutions that use the specialist and departmental systems and processes 
  • Provide specialist input and recommendations to improve the efficiency, compliance and quality objectives related to the area of specialisation 
  • Identify problems and develop and propose solutions to present to appropriate leader or stakeholders 
  • Ensure day to day operational support required from area of specialisation is provided to enhance performance


Cost containment: 

  • Support the identification, development and implementation of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialisation 
  • Continuously review cost / benefit and Return on Investment within area of specialisation

  • Maintain a high level of impact on other departments to support improved delivery 
  • Continually increase understanding of client and stakeholder needs, satisfaction and service delivery


Knowledge management: 

  • Ensure that adequate knowledge regarding specialisation is shared as required and maintained within the research library 
  • Provide advice and / or training as required 
  • Maintain, develop and implement specialist knowledge within the day to day operations of the organisation


Maintain expertise level: 

  • Be a member of related professional bodies 
  • Ensure CPD (continual professional development) or similar accreditation requirements are met annually to ensure maintained specialist accreditation


Network key relationships: 

  • Engage with and provide support to the established network of internal and external expert resources and partners


Specialist support to projects: 

  • Provide Specialist expertise and ensure best practice related to specialisation is implemented in projects, when required 
  • Conform to project management disciplines when participating in projects 
  • Represent department or project on appropriate committees related to area of specialisation

Position Specific Outputs:

  • Determine the root cause of queries logged and ensure that the issues are resolved effectively by understanding the impact of the problem, coming up with a solution and providing timely feedback in accordance with the expected timelines
  • Provide an excellent service to the business by making recommendations that are aligned to business requirements and are implemented effectively within the agreed timeframes
  • Coordinate testing efforts for all system changes and solutions implemented by firstly compiling and implementing comprehensive documentation relating to Test Plan and conduct post implementation review as part of SDLC cycle for each requirement
  • Evaluate and document the underlying business architecture and conduct; feasibility studies, business cases, risk assessments and proposals; and create functional requirements for new applications and major changes to existing applications made possible by information and communication technology, within estimated timelines
  • Take full responsibility for the operational processes through continuous monitoring against schedules and periodically reviewing processes to ensure overall operational efficiency and effectiveness at all times
  • Develop and implement cost effective proposed solutions (fixes) for incidents (P1-P5) in order to reduce overall costs within allocated time frame
  • Support the identification, development and implementation of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialisation within allocated timeframe
  • Manage risks as per LRGC Risk Register by means of compiling and executing risk mitigation plans, with preset timelines
  • Contribute to the building and maintaining of a productive working environment, through continuous collaboration and development to improve team processes, transfer skills within team and maintain specialist knowledge on an ongoing basis
  • Manage and effectively allocate tasks within the team to ensure that all calls and projects are actioned and resolved within the agreed timeframe
  • Provide support and guidance to the team in order to grow and develop their skills by sharing expertise and knowledge to continuously improve capacity and effectiveness of the department in the long run
  • Defining the work breakdown structure(WBS) and delegations thereof
  • Manage and be accountable for overall task estimation of deliverables
  • Understanding the scope of a project
  • Facilitate the WBS along with the iteration and project milestone planning
  • Ensuring all issues are appropriately monitored and resolved
  • Keep abreast of issue logs of all user/system issues and their resolutions
  • Liaising with external parties/ depts (SDCL processes such as -  analysts, understanding touch points, development and testing)
