The UX Design Lead will drive our most complex and innovative projects.  The work includes UX design across multiple touch-points including web, mobile, social, tablet and embedded services.  The incumbent will help create innovations that tie all digital touch-points together to form solutions based on user behaviour.  In addition to project work, this role will help shape the UX department, manages and mentors other designers and plays an integral role in business development.  The role includes gaining user insights and leveraging them with multi-discipline teams to take projects from concept to completion.
  • Serves as UX lead on client engagements, translating business needs into user experience solutions that meet the needs of complex organizations
  • Work with Business Relationship Manager and Developers on project scopes and creating work plan against client needs
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Developers, Quality Assurance, Business Relationship Manager and Client) to continually refine and evolve User Experience process)
  • Work on projects across multiple platforms including mobile, tablet, PC, web and embedded devices
  • Conduct effective research, including competitive analysis, user and stakeholder interviews and analytics assessment
  • Produce end-to-end journeys, specifications and prototypes to clearly communicate concept pitches and final design
  • Ability to make successful strategic and tactical design recommendations based on usability findings and standard design practices
  • Deliver key project deliverables including discovery findings, user archetypes, user research and analysis, requirements definition, workflows, wireframes, sitemaps, interaction and behaviour specs
  • Work closely with visual designers and developers while advocating the best design for the end user and giving / receiving feedback
  • Manage the interaction design process, drive decisions, track issues and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules
  • Lead, manage, coach and mentor junior to mid-level designers
  • Staying abreast of industry best practices for UX design and processes, and gather sufficient information to support suitable UX design for any given project platform and technology
  • Facilitate workshops that gain consensus and inform design
  • Create functional prototypes, testing scripts and conduct user testing

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 5+ years’ related experience as an Information Architect, UX Designer or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of interaction design and methodology
  • Demonstrated experience in using web analytics to inform design decisions
  • Familiarity with current web development technologies and standards, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, etc
  • Should have experience in all phases of user experience design: discovery (competitive research, analytics and interviews); wireframe design, prototyping, user testing, interactive design and creative deployment, quality assurance and deployment
  • Experience in visual design and / or development
  • Can design end-to-end roadmaps across digital and physical hardware designs
  • Solid user research and UX framing skills desired
  • Ability to translate insights into a meaningful story and then communicate it back to users
  • Ability to communicate to multiple groups within a large organization that includes designers, developers, etc.
  • Understanding of digital product design process, methodologies and tools
  • Experience assimilating customer feedback received through user research, user feedback, user testing, etc.
  • Experience delivering designs that meet business and technical requirements without compromising the quality of the end user’s experience
  • Passion for creating compelling designs that are meaningful, engaging, functional and easy to use
  • Leverages tools efficiently to communicate enhancement specification and capture defects, e.g. Jira and Confluence
  • Work side-by-side with front-end development team to build and validate all visual / functional enhancements
  • Ensure visual and interactive integrity of front-end build
  • Ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language
