Job Description

The Analyst is responsible for the analysis of Business requirements and system changes. To update data models and other documentation so that changes are reflected.

 
Key Responsibilities 

Outputs:

  • Analysis of business requirements
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure confirmation of requirements.
  • Quality-assure business-oriented requirements specifications.
  • On-board developers to understand designs that require coding.
  • Assessing feasibility; impacts
  • Identify potential risks/issues that may require mitigation
  • Translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objects
  • Maintain and enhance current reports
  • Advising; recommending on appropriate solutions
  • Communication with clients in terms of requirements
  • Analysis of change requests received for own systems and interfaces with other systems
  • Recommendations and cost / man-day estimates for implementing changes
  • Analysis and documentation of changes required to systems (functional and/or technical specifications)
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player with people of all backgrounds and at all levels
  • Interpretation of specifications received (includes data models), if applicable
  • Testing of interfaces to other systems, if applicable
  • Provision of test information to testers, if required
  • Documentation of changes implemented
  • Updates of data model documentation
  • Publishing of documentation as required to a central point
  • Problem solving and user assistance for own systems supported (functional, not technical)
  • Provision of user guides / training material for own system and changes being implemented
  • Provision of hands-on training for own system and changes being implemented
  • Provision of standby time / support including night support for month end reporting
  • Support and assistance with DRP(Disaster Recovery Process)
  • Management of own time and delivery of tasks according to deadlines
 
Minimuim Requirements 

1. Qualifications:

  • Grade 12

  • Relevant Information Technology Qualification will be advantageous

2. Experience:

  • At least 4 years IT experience

  • Strong database skills

  • Experience with life insurance products

  • Experience with re-insurance will be advantageous

  • SQL

3. Knowledge:

Knowledge and understanding of :

  • Databases

  • Re-Insurance principles
