Own and Maintain Backup Systems for Mondi Richards Bay.
Site support for the Richards Bay Networking Routing and switching environment.
Site support for the Richards Bay Storage (SAN) environment.
Site support for the Richards Bay AS400 system.
Site support for the Richards Bay Virtual environment.
Site support for the Richards Bay Server environment.
Site support for the Richards Bay Security Systems environment.
Site support for the Richards Bay production systems.
Ensure that all the relevant documentation and procedures is updated and followed.
Ensure that daily/weekly/monthly tasks are followed as per the detailed checklists
Fulfil a high-level technical escalation role for the On-site engineers and the user community.
Provide 1st line support when on standby.
Plan, document and schedule Disaster Recovery (DR) for all sites.
Assist the team in a pre-sales function
Liaise with outside vendors ensuring minimum downtime to the Mondi systems.
Supervise work undertaken by hardware, software suppliers and contractors to ensure quality meets and Mondi standards.
Obtain an in depth understanding of the infrastructure installations at Mondi Richards bay as well as the Zululand area.
Identify areas for service improvement from all the above. Ensure a process of continuous improvement is carried out.
Develop the junior technical team & assist the on-site staff to improve their skills on an on-going basis.
Assist with proof of concept testing when required. Provide input and assist with infrastructure expansion designs and installations.
Capacity planning Assess existing capacity on an on-going basis and provide recommendations in advance on a proactive basis when upgrades are required.
Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
Ensure availability for standby periods.
Adhere to and Mondi safety policies and procedures.
Respond to calls logged within SLA General system calls, Maintenance Tasks, Change Controls and escalations.
Resolve any relevant onsite system issues
Extended knowledge on Server and Storage hardware and software.
Strong knowledge of Networking hardware and technologies.
A broad knowledge in Computer Networking, Applications and Operating Systems is essential.
A systematic approach in general IT fault finding.
