Job Description

An opportunity became available for a User Experience Specialist to join the Product Delivery team to lead the user experience work for the website and other user touch-points. User Experience is at the heart of what we do where our aim is to make customers feel empowered to use products and services. You will be part of a growing team based in Cape Town City and have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in helping customers own their possibilities.
 Key Accountabilities
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Technology team, Product Delivery team, Business teams as well as with external stakeholders to understand the business, customer and user requirements.
  • Ensure marketing and brand alignment, consistency and required sign-off processes are adhered to.
  • Drive adequate QA requirements
  • Translate product, customer, brand and technology requirements and functional specifications into simple and refined user experiences that will be meaningful and people will talk positively about.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and partners
  • Drive knowledge management and information sharing to ensure open and clear lines of communication on design process.
  • Develop user interface guidelines and toolkits to inform business and operational briefs and training material.
  • Promote evidence-based design thinking by initiating and organising both User Research and Usability Testing when appropriate. Create experience strategies and concepts based upon business and user needs and be able to clearly communicate them through diagrams and presentations.
  • Through the appropriate medium and fidelity, deliver world-class interaction design. This includes communicating the journeys for a solution as well as the interaction design.
  • Identify nuances across desktop tablet and mobile devices
  • In-depth review of application funnel and drop-off monitoring
  • Be able to plan and manage the most effective approach to any new challenge proactively.
  • Be a positive ambassador for User Experience throughout Wonga.
 Qualifications and Experience
  • Have at least 3 years working in a similar User Experience role, and have worked in a team on medium to large-sized projects. Client-side experience is preferred. Experience on digital products and services in an agency or consulting environment is also beneficial.
  • Have solid knowledge of: product development life-cycle| user interface design | experience mapping | user testing | information architecture and system interfaces | UX best practices | cross- browser compatibility |web and mobile technologies |
  • Have lead work streams and shaped the online user experience strategy.
  • Have worked well with developers, content creators, project owners and stakeholders in the past and are comfortable presenting your work and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Have experience in Agile methodologies
  • The ideal candidate will efficiently produce a user experience design informed by the customer need and business requirements, rather than working from the interface backwards.
Preferred skills:
  • Hands on HTML and CSS skills with a good knowledge of web frameworks and JavaScript libraries.
  • Mobile prototyping Experience using industry standard online tools as origami and Pixate to name a few.
  • User research and usability testing planning and facilitation.
  • Graphic design and motion design skills. We are looking to erode the divide between UX design and visual design roles.
  • An interest in communicating about your work to a wider audience.
